Alright, so I am planning to build this pretty soon(hopefully, within the next month). My parents had told me that if I sell my xbox, which they are tired of because I swear a good bit, and I have my headsets pretty loud, making me talk loud, I can then build my 1st PC. I have had many experiences already, upgrading my PoS HP desktop I have now, but I haven't built a whole thing yet. Here's my plan.
The video card and the hard drive/PSU combo are my 2 worries.
The Radeon HD 5850 is being sold out day by day, and i'll probably get the cheapest solution at the time I plan to buy everything. THe CPU and mobo, I was actually planning to buy both of those, I just happened to see both of them in a combo haha. The hard drive and PSU, the longer I take, the combo deal will probably disappear(I think), so I'll probably rethink it at the time I'm buying it.
So here's my plan, and with shipping and tax, it ends up being $1046 or so, right around $1000 after rebates. Then, i'll be working this summer, and i'm planning on buying a widescreen monitor(I'm on a 17" 1280x1024 atm).
So if there are better solutions for this, let me know.
Both of these are improvements over your current listings... IMO! The Seagate 7200.12 is much faster than the WD 500GB Blue, since it is based on a single 500GB platter. The Antec EA650 is a better PSU than the OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP.
Total-$978.90 w/out shipping+tax (enter your zip in newegg and there are $10 in rebates)
I'll think about it. The RAM is worse, and I would only buy the tri-core if there is a good chance of me unlocking that 4th core. The monitor is not my first priority right now, and I can wait a few months, as I won't be "seriously" gaming until i'm out of school, which is summer, when i'm making money. Heck, if I haven't built a PC by summer, I should have enough money for me to buy a BE quad core.
