Hey there

i'm building my own HTPC and i got some few parts cheap from my friends:
Antec case
http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=MzI=

px9600 gt graphic card
http://www.leadtek.com/eng/3d_graphic/overview.asp?pronameid=411

so now i need a mobo, cpu and some ram

the budget is about 300$

it's going to play movies on my 40' samsung, 1980x1020, and ofcourse my music and surfing on the internet.

if possible i would like DDR3

hope you can help me :)

CPU + Mobo -
Athlon II X3 + ASUS 785G With USB 3.0/ SATA 6GB/s and is DDR3
And the mobo has 128MB vRAM dedicated for the onboard graphics, which can even playback/ decode 1080p without any issues...So you wont even need a separate graphics card...

RAM -
If you want to go 4GB

But IMO 2GB would suffice for what you want to do with the PC

Yes both of those options would play 1080p content just fine.

And if you are using a player capable of utilizing the video card for playback you could even get away with a less powerfull CPU.

That would depend, is this intended only for media viewing? If so, then you could get by using the IGP of either solutions presented by gkay, which to get would be up to you, the AMD would obviously be the cheaper option, with the i3 providing a stronger CPU and improved power draw (lower power usage).
