2 9800gt 1gb ee sli vs a gts 250

i have a 9800gt 1gb ee version

if i add another one in sli will it outperform a gts 250? and how about a gtx260?

Two of those would most likely be somewhere between a 260 and a 280 ish, if you take into consideration that two normal 9800GT/8800GT's are pretty close to a GTX280.

Before considering 2 cards make sure the second slot on your motherboard runs at at least x8. If it is x4 then the benefit of a second card tends to be severely limited.

Both slots run at x16 and that cpu should be more than fine. Go for it.

I use an E8400 @ 3.6ghz (or 3ghz if I boot into XP) so like Jijjy said, go for it. Just make sure you've got a good 550-600w PSU you can rely on.

i have a lsp750w ultra power supply, will it be enough to power both of these 9800gts? note: these 9800gt's doesn't require a direct connection from your Power Supply

i currently have a 15 inch hp lcd moniter i was gonna get a lg 22inch 1080p moniter for 150 but its not available anymore i play on getting a similar one once i find a good price.. and i plan on going all out so the highest resolution it can go to

oh and while looking for the second 9800gt 1gb for sli, i found these 2 which are both pny9800gts 1gb but look different? why is that? and are they different at all in any ways? will it not work in sli unless i get the same one i have? note:i know they have older models of these but they were longer and they blew the hot air of the card to the front of the case (so the one i got in my opinion is better) n i think they discontinued the other one, however these 2 look more similar. whats the deal?

On the 15" monitor you will likely be able to max out any game you want, including Crysis. Outside of Crysis the upgrade is going to be of marginal value until you get a new monitor.
Any 9800GT will be fine to SLI.

The length shouldn't be an issue so long as they fit in your case as the SLi tabs will line up, there may be a clockspeed difference but that won't matter as the drivers will balance it out, so get the cheapest one.

It's 512mb and the card he has is 1gb. If he used that the other card would only use 512mb as well and with the SLI he will have the computing power to use resolutions where the difference in memory size actually matters.
