More about 9800gt
  1. Two of those would most likely be somewhere between a 260 and a 280 ish, if you take into consideration that two normal 9800GT/8800GT's are pretty close to a GTX280.
  2. damn reaLLY?
  3. I'm running a pair of 8800GT's @ 19 x 10 and my framerates are between the numbers given for the GTX275 and GTX280 in most benchmarks. What CPU are you using?
  4. Before considering 2 cards make sure the second slot on your motherboard runs at at least x8. If it is x4 then the benefit of a second card tends to be severely limited.
  5. I have a P5N-D motherboard, and i am using a q9950 (quad core @ 2.83 ghz w. 12 mb cache)
  6. and my motherboard supports sli, jyjjy will my m.b run both cards at the same speed n take full advantage of them?
  7. Both slots run at x16 and that cpu should be more than fine. Go for it.

I use an E8400 @ 3.6ghz (or 3ghz if I boot into XP) so like Jijjy said, go for it. Just make sure you've got a good 550-600w PSU you can rely on.
  9. sweeet, do you think i will be able to play crysis on very high settings
  10. I played on highish settings, I'll dig out a screenie if you want.
  11. i have a lsp750w ultra power supply, will it be enough to power both of these 9800gts? note: these 9800gt's doesn't require a direct connection from your Power Supply
  12. that would be nicee
  13. Any 750w should be more than fine.
  14. We would need to know your resolution to give any sort of estimate at how well it will play Crysis.
  15. i currently have a 15 inch hp lcd moniter i was gonna get a lg 22inch 1080p moniter for 150 but its not available anymore i play on getting a similar one once i find a good price.. and i plan on going all out so the highest resolution it can go to
  16. with the 15 inch moniter the the max resolution is 1024x700 i think
  17. oh and while looking for the second 9800gt 1gb for sli, i found these 2 which are both pny9800gts 1gb but look different? why is that? and are they different at all in any ways? will it not work in sli unless i get the same one i have? (i have the one with the blue board: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133304

and this is the other one i found while searching around: http://www3.pny.com/9800-GT-EE-1024MB-PCIe-P2860C331.aspx

note:i know they have older models of these but they were longer and they blew the hot air of the card to the front of the case (so the one i got in my opinion is better) n i think they discontinued the other one, however these 2 look more similar. whats the deal?
  18. On the 15" monitor you will likely be able to max out any game you want, including Crysis. Outside of Crysis the upgrade is going to be of marginal value until you get a new monitor.
Any 9800GT will be fine to SLI.
  19. nice! i cant wait, so those 2 9800gts are they any different? i know the older models are because as i explained they were longer and i think ran a bit hotter, but whats the diffrence between these?! if any..

The length shouldn't be an issue so long as they fit in your case as the SLi tabs will line up, there may be a clockspeed difference but that won't matter as the drivers will balance it out, so get the cheapest one.
  21. great thanks, im trying to find one like
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814133304

this if you can find a cheaper price plz lemme kno! i got the one i have now for 94 after rebates and free shipping...
  22. This is a nice 9800GT

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500142&cm_re=9800gt-_-14-500-142-_-Product

Low price, very high quality. I built a computer for my friend using that card. Will not regret it.
  23. It's 512mb and the card he has is 1gb. If he used that the other card would only use 512mb as well and with the SLI he will have the computing power to use resolutions where the difference in memory size actually matters.

For the price difference a 512 card isn't worth looking at.
  25. yea the one i got from newegg was 1gb and it was 94 after rebates, which is cheaper..
  26. i need to find a pny 9800gt 1gb for under 100
  27. That doesn't seem to be possible but you don't actually need a PNY card. Any 1gb 9800GT will do as I said earlier.
  28. what dosent seem possible? finding a pny9800gt 1gb for under 100? look at newegg and tiger its possible after annoying rebates
  29. Yeah, that's what I meant. I usually ignore rebates myself.
  30. yea their a pain in the ass D: i just got rejected on my memory rebates i have to call and bitch them out tommorow
