I've never overclocked before and would like to know how to do it or if there's some guide I tried this guide http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18401... but then my monitor wouldn't come back on upon reboot so I had to clear the cache so I'm back to square one

Here.. do yourself the favor here.

I want you to get a notepad (yeah the manual type lol) and write down all the overclocking settings in your bios. You should have pretty much all these give/take

Multiplier
Voltage (Auto, Fixed, Offset)
Load Line Calibration
CPU PLL Voltage
BCLK (I don't suggest raising this at ALL! Newer boards don't take kindly to it especially the Z77)
Intel Speedstep Technology
Turbo Boost

Research each one of the settings you have and learn what they do. This will help you more than any guide out there really can. This gives you the knowledge behind the settings. And once you know WHAT they do, you'll know HOW to use them. That's exactly what I did when I first sat into the BIOS of my board.

Do this first and learn a bit before you start trying to overclock. Once you learn about the settings, the rest will just be a walk in the park. :)
