Overclocking With Asus Sabertooth Z77


OS: Windows 7
RAM: Ripjaw 8gb
GPU: EVGA 02G-P4-2678-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB 256-bit GDDR5
CPU: I5-2500k
Power Supply: 650w
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77

I've never overclocked before and would like to know how to do it or if there's some guide I tried this guide http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18401772 but then my monitor wouldn't come back on upon reboot so I had to clear the cache so I'm back to square one

  1. Here.. do yourself the favor here.

    I want you to get a notepad (yeah the manual type lol) and write down all the overclocking settings in your bios. You should have pretty much all these give/take

    Voltage (Auto, Fixed, Offset)
    Load Line Calibration
    CPU PLL Voltage
    BCLK (I don't suggest raising this at ALL! Newer boards don't take kindly to it especially the Z77)
    Intel Speedstep Technology
    Turbo Boost

    Research each one of the settings you have and learn what they do. This will help you more than any guide out there really can. This gives you the knowledge behind the settings. And once you know WHAT they do, you'll know HOW to use them. That's exactly what I did when I first sat into the BIOS of my board.

    Do this first and learn a bit before you start trying to overclock. Once you learn about the settings, the rest will just be a walk in the park. :)
