ok i found this controller card that has a sata 3 and a usb 3 connection via pci express. however the manufacter told me that it does not support NCQ native command queing but it does support achi.

now will there bne a big performance impact without NCQ? im a multitasker with a fast pc but know very little about this. id really like to have it all in one package but if i have to get a usb card and a sata3 card seperatly i will.

specs
ex58-ds4 gigbyte x58 series
6gb ddr3 1600
core i7 920

ok, yea i dont know what to think i guess just wait for my card to get here and see, because i called up the company of the card and they told me that not supporting NCQ would not have an effect on performance, however im kinda like you makes since to have it however the wiki is not always write is what i once heard

What brand is the card? The only two controller chips I know of are Asmedia and Marvell -- does the card use either of those controllers?

FWIW, I just bought an Orico PCIe SATA-3 card and via e-mail Orico advised me the card was PCIe 2.0 x2, but after installing the card I find the Asmedia controller is only x1. Moral of the story: When getting product from a manufacturer, "trust but verify."

Those both use Asmedia controllers, and undoubtedly will be x1. A PCIe 2.0 x1 lane has 500 MBps potential throughput. Allowing for overhead, you'll not get the full 500 Mbps. (On PCIe 1.0, an x1 lane only has 250MBps potential.)

e.g. My 120 GB Intel 520 SSD gets about 380MBps sequential read/write on benchmark tests using a PCIe card with an Asmedia 106X controller -- same as your second choice.
