Hard disk makes noise when stat

I am getting the error stating select proper boot device when i start my system.
I did everything(removed bios battery, newly OS installed, replaced the RAm with new one) still I am facing the same issue "select proper boot device"
kindly advise waht action to take next, really i bugged up with my syatem

Is your BIOS set to boot from your hard drive?

It sounds like you need to go into your bios, and tell it which drive you want the machine to boot from.
