3.5" SATA 2 to USB

Hi,

I took a Samsung 250GB 3.5" SATA 2 drive out of an unused pvr and attempted to use it as an external hard drive for my PC but I can't get it to show up in my computer or the disc manager.

I have done this previously with my PS3's 2.5" internal SATA drive and used it as a external hard drive and it worked fine with a SATA to USB adapter. I tried to use the same adapter for the 3.5" SATA 2 drive but it is not showing up anywhere.

From what I have read the adapters should work on any SATA type and both 2.5 and 3.5" drives, but i'm not 100% sure.

Could this be a completely different problem, with the hard drive designed to only work with a pvr but locked for pc's?

I forgot to add that the light on the sata adapter comes on to show when its working for the 2.5" PS3 drive but not for the 3.5" drive.
