Hey guys was just wonderin I've got the parts below but how high should my power supply be?

Mobo: GA-G31M-ES2C
Proc: Intel Core2Duo 2.93Ghz
Vid: 1 GB Geforce 9500GT
Mem: 4 GB RAM
Snd: Creative Sound Blaster 5.1

I've worked with dell spare parts before and If I remember correctly minimum power supply for this specs should be around 350 to 400 watts. Any suggestions? Thanks guys. Looking forward for your reply on this...

  1. Well, I'd go for a 400W so that you can upgrade your graphic card later on, otherwise 300W should suffice.
  2. A good quality 400W PSU will be sufficient for that rig(even if you OC).

    I would suggest you a Corsair 400CX:

    :)
  3. A good 400W would cover you for that setup, and even with a bigger video card it would still work.
  4. i recommend this:

    for future upgrades

but if you want to be cheaper now and arent planning any significant upgrades the corsair 400cx somewher listed above will be plenty.
  5. Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

This are the power requirements for the 9500 GT

    Thermal and Power Specs:
    Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) 105 C
    Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) 50 W
    Minimum Recommended System Power (W) 350 W

The recommended PSU is for the entire system.

This SeaSonic 400W is a good options for U.
  6. Thanks for the support guys. :D I finally got it on with 300W and its workin just fine. It's just temporary. I'll be assemblin a full gigabyte rig by december :D I'll be here by those times most probably to ask help as well. :D again thank you so much! :D
  7. Ok well glad we could help. Psst, dont tell anyone: i justbought a coolmax cu-500b psu. Sure i recommend good stuff, but do i buy good stuff? Just like 50% of the time! Lol

Yeah everyone recommends Corsair........but not everyone has a Corsair budget. The OCZ Fatal1ty is a fantastic psu with a 3yr swap out warranty and plenty of amps. For $45 after rebate it cannot be beat.

OCZ Fatality PSU are great PSU's and were $39.99 last month I picked one up for my encoding rig It seem really solid voltages all stable its modular and has plenty of power for most systems although it states it has 25 amps per 12 volt rail but in reality combined in only has 36 Amps but still more then enough for most average rigs.
