Help on overclocking my i5 2500k

Hi forum!

I've decided to overclock my CPU, but i've got no idea on how to do so and...

Which fan should I buy to overclock it @ 4.2 - 4.7 GhZ?

Is it possible?

My power supply is an XFX Core edition 850 W.

Thanks a lot !

Read that first, use google to learn more. Before you even adventure into overclocking, you need to know what you're doing! I could type it all out for you, but it's all out there already. Google is your BEST friend! Trust me.

As for a good HSF for those speeds.... depends on your price range.

The Coolermaster Hyper212 is well worth the LOW price while the Noctua D14 is worth the high price.

In all respect, price to performance the Hyper 212 is the perfect HSF.

  4. You are very welcome. And don't forget to keep us updated on how it's going. Overclocking a 2500k is probably one of the funnest processors to overclock.
  5. Be careful of heat, I've fried a few processors by overclocking them too much and not enough heat dissipation.
