External hard drive remove write protection macbook

Platinum external hard drive connected with USB2.

Able to tranfer the instuction use file to my Macbook. but unable to copy on the external hard drive.

The answer I get : write protection

Would you have a suggestion

What exact make/model of external hard drive are you using? Is it formatted with a PC or Mac filesystem?

On the Mac, does the Disk Utility recognize the drive?
