Why must I press F2 before my WIN XP will startup?

When I shut down my HP Pavilion 515n pc, a screen come on stating press F1
or F2. F1 takes me to the setup of the programs, F2 will let my WIN XP start up. Why is it, it will not just start up like it used to? Can you assist me with this issue?

You probably need to replace the battery on the motherboard.

Phil, can you be a bit more specific? This is not a laptop, but a desktop. I know absolutely nothing about any sort of battery on a motherboard??

You'll have to open your computer case. There will be a batter on the motherboard, usually a CR2032 battery.
