Hello,
I have an Intel Skull Trail Motherboard packed with two Intel Xeon 5402 processors. I am looking to sell my old rig and upgrade to an Intel Core i7 920 DO. Is it worth it? Will there be any significance in performance? Or should I just wait for a 6 core processor? I'm using my rig for gaming, video editing, and as a digital audio workstation. Thanks.

I can't say for sure as I don't have benchmarks, but my guess is that skulltrail is the faster platform, by a noticeable margin. You'll be dropping from 8 cores to 4 cores, and seriously the Core I series of processors aren't that much faster clock for clock than Core2 was.

Skull trail is faster than the 920. I saw this benchmarked when the I7 was first released.

However the unit I saw benched was 3.2 Ghz cpu. I was not able find the specs on that Xeon. What is the clock speed?
