Hello,i want to make a budget gaming pc.I currenlty use a P4 2.5 and ATI AH3450.I use CorelDraw 5 and ulead video studio ( occasionaly).I mostly play FPS and currently I play Operation7.I get by ok with my pc ( op 7 1024x768) but Ithink it time to upgrade ( that's an understatement!!)I am between phenom x2 550 and i3 530. I know i3 is better but is it worth the extra money for the extra performance?I wiill use for both rigs 2 gb ddr3 corsair TN3X2 XMS3 1600 memory and ati 5770 1 gd gpu.For thephenom I have chosen msi 770 c45 mobo ( or ashrock A790GX ) and for i3 gigabyte GAH55M52H.The difference in price is about 70 euros here in greece.Does it worth it?Thnak you

Worth is relative from situation to situation.
Yes, the i3 is better than the 550, but the LGA 1156 platform will be dead within 4-5 years. The next time you upgrade, you'll need a new motherboard as well.
The AM3 platform, on the other hand, will last long enough to see hexacore CPUs, meaning if you get the AMD build, you have more options for upgrading, and you won't have to replace the majority your rig the next time you feel your PC's getting slow.

Thank you for all your input.I will consider the x3 and x4 but I thought thta a dual core would be best for games for less money. If i opt for quad coredo you think the phenom x4 945 is worth the extra money compared to to 630 or 620?
