I would like to be able to boot my IBM X31 type 2672 from an external
Freecom CD rom - model Ricoh RW 7040A.
The CD is recognised within windows and functions fine when attached via a
PCMCIA card. In Device Manager, under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, the
Freecom Cable 2 PCMCIA card is listed .
Howver, when during boot, I go to Access IBM pre-desktop area and in
Information, I see that the CD rom is not listed as an ATA/ATAPI device.
Only the Hard DIsk is listed as a device.
Can anyone tell me how I can get the CD rom added to this list of ATAPI
devices so I can boot from CD. Thanks a lot.

Hi Paul,
You need to load DOS card services for the PCMCIA card, once they are loaded, you then need to load the actual DOS CDROM drivers.

Hi Paul,
You are right = thre answer is no. I have found out that if I am to boot
from a CD-rom I need to upgrade from pcmcia cd-rom to a USB CD-rom drive .
Thanks for your suggestion but I also have no floppy drive.
cheers
Paul
