HP Slimline vista and XFX gamecard

Hello,
I have an XFX game/video card installed on my HP Slimline Desktop running Vista. The PC does not always recognize the card. I have to hard shut it down, sometime remove and install card again to get the desktop to recognize it. Has anyone else experienced the issue or have any ideas on how i can resolve. I have had the desktop sent in for repair and replaced the card, no success.
