Power Supply blew out......

I just recently purchased the new 1055T AMD Phenom II processor and a GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard to go with it.

I had a OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V power supply and it blew up...I tried it on another PC and it isnt working.

Luckily it didn't damage the hard drive but what else could of it harmed and why did it blow up most importantly?

  1. The OCZ *Stream PSU's are far from among my favorites.

You try the "paperclip trick" ?

use a paperclip (color covered ones work good with ends stripped) instead of the switch

    Suggest an EA-650 or TX650

  2. I actually hooked it up to a spare PC i had laying around. It wouldn't even power the CPU fan.......

I thought at first it was a bad motherboard because 3 hours before it was working flawless. I went to put the new mobo and processor in and POOF didnt make a sound either.
  3. Anyone else know?
  4. PSU is bad if its not that old you can try to RMA it thru OCZ they do have 3 year warranties on most their PSU's and will actually send you a brand new unit if its defective but who knows how long that will take.

No way off knowing until you can power up the system to see.

Because either sh!t happens or because it is an OCZ StealthXStream.
