Will this system play any modern games?

I have an old Alienware with Asus nforce 4, 4 gig ddr2, AMD FX 57 processor and the 7950 gx2 has broken. What is the best graphics card I can get for it and will it will it play any current games? I can get a 7800 GTX 512MB quite cheap will that be any good. I have a 700 watt power supply. Thanks.

I'm not talking Crysis but maybe Modern Warfare or Dragon Age ?

Not really. The FX was nice back in the day, but it can't compete any longer, as it can only handle one thread at a time. The 7800GTX falls under the same category too. Once was a great performer, now, not so much.
