We recently purchased 4 R51 laptops. While researching in mid-July the
data sheets showed 2 Ty. 1/2 pcmcia slots. The laptops were delivered
last week. There is a double height pcmcia slot but the top slot can
not be used. The is a plastic tab preventing insertion of a card more
than 1" and there are no pins at the rear of the slot.
Went back onto IBM web site, now the data sheet says only 1 pcmcia
slot. Unfortunately we didn't prion out the original spec sheet.
Anybody purchased an R51 ThinkPad prior to June/July who has 2 usable
slots? Looking for some ammo before we call IBM next week to raise
hell.

None of the R51 models have, or ever had, two PC card slots. The card slot
is two cards high in order to be able to take Type III cards.
Perhaps when you're were researching your purchase you might have looked at
a model R50 and confused yourself? The R50 has two PC card slots.
