So what I need help with is choosing the right RAM and motherboard for my build. I am considering the P55 route with an i7 860 (I need hyperthread). If you think that going the P55 platform with i7 860 is the better router, please tell me why. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks.

Are there any other suggestions? I am considering the Gigabyte X58-UD3R which is available at 209$ currently. That's 100$ cheaper than the P6X58D.

There isnt going to be any noticeable difference between the boards unless you decide to tri-sli/cf, which in many cases the results go backwards from 2 cards, the gigabyte looks like much better value
