AMD is almost always better price to performance this is common knowledge. I dont mean to sound rude or anything but this has been discussed so much in these forums. For gaming the 955BE will be your best option. The I7's beat the Phenom II x4's in everything but for gaming the cost really isnt justifiable for a few extra FPS thw money saved would be better spent on a GPU.
So I feel the 955 is better price to performance ratio because it can oc to 3.8 easily and it is a lot cheaper than the i7.
The i7 also does overclock easily which nullifies your point. The 955 only becomes "better" when you consider the whole platform price and that probably the next AMD cpu's would be just a drop in upgrade for AM3 motherboards.
I don't know what you would pay for a I7-930, but since I live near Microcenter, I can get 1 for $199.00
Meto I love Micro Center but overall platform price to performance AMD is still better also like already stated if you factor in AMD has a much better upgrade path with the AM3 socket its a Home Run.
