Folder Synchronization

I'm guessing I'm using the wrong term to search for the answer to my question.

How do I keep folders synchronized in Windows 7? What I want to do is store my files on two computers to provide some backup and have the ability to work on them if one computer isn't booted up. If I make changes I want the most recent copy of the file to be synchronized to both systems.

Is synchronization the right term in Windows 7? I can't find anything on the subject. Or am I looking for the Groove Synchronization that comes in Office 2007?

If only one computer is working you would need to connect the second one and have them networked to sync them.
Maybe a usb drive would solve your problem, you can store your files on an external drive, which can be accessed by both over the network, or be moved and plugged into the one that you are using when the other is switched off.
Unless you have exremely large files even a usb stick would suffice.
