Title: An OC'd HD5870 won't be enough.

So it's a new type of card, not an OC.
If this hits the $475 price-range, it'll fill the gap.

Can't WAIT for Quad-Crossfire (CFX) benchies of this.

To the public; yes, it can play Crysis, :3.

An OC'd 5870 won't be enough for what? Did you read the article Shadow? All this is IS an OC'd 5870. This is their Fermi answer, and Fud doesn't think it will be enough to put them on top of fermi. Time will answer that question.

Edit: Forgot to mention. Its not a new type of card. Its just a cherry picked 5870.

Splendid

Any tuned part would almost certainly go over 225w yes.

4870 = 150w, 4980 = 190w
5870 = 188w, 5890 = ?

With the same voltage bump and 100mhz it would be close to 225w already, but assuming Charlie is right about his info, increasing the volts and clocks are going to increase watts by a lot more than previous chips so it might even go higher than that.

Another alternative is ATI have been binning the *really* good chips and this 'Trillian' could be designed as a very low volume part purely to take the gloss off Fermi's release.

And another one - 'Trillian' was mentioned as being the 6-screen display version of the 5870 months ago so don't rule that out yet either.
