Processor

Hello,
I have one quesiton for you..I'm just curious..does the intel quad core i5/i7 support all the games that we want to play? e.g GuildWars or Gunz The Duel <-- this 2 games was my favourite game! im scared if i buy iMac and use the quad core then it will not support those games!
Extra question..does ati radeon 256mb enough to run 3D games and HD video at high quality?

More about processor
  1. iMac will not run those games, the hardware is irrelevant.
Those games are built off Window's DirectX API.
The only way you can run it is if you use Boot Camp to boot Windows.
The i5/i7 will support the games, however what Radeon is it? There are many 256MB's.
  2. An i5 or i7 will be able to play all of your games, just some games wont use all 4 cores. And im sure both of those games can be played on the Mac operating system just as well as the windows OS. A radeon 256mb card looks like it will play those games but only on the lowest of settings.
  3. Guild Wars

    Minimum System Specification
    Windows Vista/XP/2000/ME/98
Intel Pentium III 1.0 GHz or equivalent
    512 MB RAM
    DVD-ROM drive1
    3 GB available HDD space
ATI Radeon 8500 or NVIDIA GeForce 3 series video card with 64 MB of VRAM
    16-bit sound card
    Internet connection
    Keyboard and mouse
    DirectX 8

Mac has NO DirectX, the game will NOT even run.

    Gunz:
    Minimum Requirements Recommended Requirements
OS Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7
    DirectX DirectX 9.0c or above
CPU Pentium III 500 MHz Pentium III 800 MHz or higher
Memory 256 MB 512 MB or above
Graphics Card Direct 3D 9.0 Compatible (Riva TNT) GeForce 4 MX or higher
    Sound Card Direct3DSound Compatible
Mouse Windows Compatible (Wheel Mouse recommended)

    Once again, DirectX is needed.

Paperfox, I suggest you do some research on Graphics API's, OSes, and game engines.
  4. hmm, must have been reading to many hacks about the mac os then.

edit: either that or I was assuming he could use something like Bootcamp.
