Problems with overclocking tools.

I have an 9600m gt which I can get a stable overclock on using MSI afterburner. The overclock is from 500/400MHz core/memory to 650/520MHz

The problem is that afterburner will only let me take the core and memory clocks up to predefined max speeds of 650MHz and 520MHz respectively.

A friend of mine suggested for me to try EVGA precision x. Using this software I can take the core clocks higher than I can in afterburner, the problem is that I'm finding precision x is making my gpu unstable.

Even taking the stable core and memory speeds from afterburner and using them in precision x is leading to instability and my laptop black screening, hell I can even use a lower overclock in precision x and it's unstable.

See as afterburner is based off it, I would use rivatuner instead but that flatout refuses to accept the drivers for my card.

I was wondering if there is anyway I can increase the clocks beyond the predefined limits afterburner sets for my card?
