Question about upgrading memory beyond Motherboard specs
Oct 21, 2010, 7:48 AM
Can I upgrade my computers memory to DDR2 PC-2 8500 even though the mother boards specs say 6400 is the limit.
But when I check the Crucial memory it states it can handle up to 8500.

That's a commercial board, undoubtedly with a locked BIOS. What do you expect to gain?

So adding the 8500 wouldn't get any better performance then the 6400?
