Hi Guys,

I am trying to stream a live TV feed through a TV/capture card and onto our network.

The server has to encode and scale down the video and audio.

The question is...

What would be the best rig to the video crunching on? High clock AMD>? high clock Intel>?
6Gb of Ram vs 3Gb?

maybe 2 GPUs in SLI.... 1 big ATI card.

Any help would be great !

I've had successful streams of baseball games using the following setup:

Motherboard: ASUS A8N-VM s939
CPU: AMD Athlon X2-3800 @2.0GHz
RAM: 2x1GB DDR-333
Graphics/Capture: ATI All-In-Wonder X1800XL
OS: Windows XP MCE 2005
Software: Windows Media Encoder

I'd have to rebuild that system in order to say for sure, but if I recall correctly, the resolution I used was 480x320 and it streamed to Windows Media Player as a WMV (again, if I remember correctly). Granted, I was only serving 1 to 3 connections.
