I bought an Ati 5850 today to go with my new 32" Samsung monitor, however the 5850 WILL NOT go above a resolution of 1280x800.

I am using Windows 7 64x and a HDMI to DVI (dual link) cable, however in both the CCC and in Windows display manager, it shows 1280x800 as being both the max and the recommended resolution.

I know for a fact that the monitor goes to 2560x1600 because i have tested it with my 8800GT, however with the 5850 it will just not work.

I also followed the directions here : http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=260&threadid=127150&enterthread=y however when i go to the "Scaling Options tab" the slider is grayed out.

I even went to the HDTV tab and added all of the formats to the display manager... none of them work. If i try to change the resolution to something higher (this even happens with Powerstrip) it just flashes the window once and completely ignores the resolution change.

I have also tried making "custom resolutions" via the registry, but so far nothing works.

I have downloaded both the standalone drivers + the entire CCC suite twice, and installed each of those twice as well. so that's 4 re-installs of the drivers, with no difference.

these are all the latest drivers mind you, do you think perhaps older drivers might work instead?

I have done everything suggested here with no results.

uninstalled drivers, rebooted into safe mode, ran driver sweeper, reboot, install new drivers, reboot, uninstall drivers... and the loop goes on and on and on.

Nothing is working, i've now tried drivers for 9.12, 10.1, and 10.2

I've now also tried with 9.11 which was the driver version which came with the 5850, and again nothing.

1280x800 stretched out on a 32" monitor is giving me a headache real fast.
