I've gotten both artifacts and read all the open books. I'm running around
in circles with 2 objectives left. There are 2 balconies in the atrium of
the lair but I don't see how to get up there. I seem to be running in
circles.

You can climb the walls using the silly climbing gloves to get to the
balconies. There are doors that lead you from there on.

And if you do not have the climbing gloves there's a frobable book in Gamals
bedroom that opens a secret entrance

Right you are! I thought there was another way in, but for the life of me
couldn't remember what it was. Glad you remembered it!

thanks. I figured it out not too long after I posted. I finally found a
way to climb up the walls. It's stupid in this game because most walls with
a coping or ridge don't allow you to climb past them. Some walls do.
Stupid gloves - rope arrows - were they that freakin' hard to implement?

The Havok engine forces you to think about stuff like rope arrows in
terms of actual physics, and when you do that the concept falls apart.
Think of all the reasons why a rope arrow wouldn't work in real life.

Probably why there is no invisibility potion or slo-fall potion.

It doesn't force anyone to anything at all. After all pushing crates
wasn't done realistic either as it took a few seconds to actually move
them.

Failing to make it look good in third person view might be the
more likely reason why they didn't do it.

So you believe animated statues and shape-shifting witches would work
in real life?

Where the hell do *you* live?
