Also, i read somewhere that even a triple core comes par with a quadcore in gaming.
I really wanted a i5 750 but i am budget is low!

I am currently playing borderlands, batman AA.
GTA 4 is almost unplayable in my laptop which has a nvidia 9300m

The best budget processor IMO is the Phenom X2 555 dual core for around $105

If you have a mb with either a 710 or 750 series southbridge chip a simple bios change usually transforms it in to a 3.2 GHz quad with all the features of a phenom quad .
The 770/710 mbs dont support crossfire but work well for single gfx cards . Have a look at pricing but the Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P is a very decent mb and was selling around $70

The UD3P mb is similar to mad admirals suggestion , but had more pci-e slots and fewere pci slots . Most people would find it more useful than having older legacy pci slots .

Just having the fourth core does add a bit , but not much in most games . The advantage of using the X2 555 is much larger cache on the processor .
Its easily the best bang for buck
