I am in the market to get a new AM3 platform and I am going to making it "future proof" so it will last a few years. So which mother board should I get I am stuck between the ASUSCrosshair IV Formula/Gigabyte 790FXTA-UD5. Both have usb 3.0 and SATA3 compatibility. The price is about the same for each so I really don't know which one to go with and I was hoping some of you can give me some input to help me decide.

go for the crosshair IV formula, it has the new 890FX chipset vs the gigabytes 790FX, and its the ultimate board for an AMD build :)

^+1. I'd go for the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula myself, and besides, you get that epic black/red colour scheme.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

1- In this case, the best option is the Crosshair IV because the 790FXTA-UD5 have a old chipset now.
2- U also can go with the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 that is around $180 and have a similar performance that the Crosshair IV.
