Laptop freezes upon startup

Hello,

everytime i start up on laptop, it freezes at the login page, doesn't allow me to select user. I am forced to hold down the start button, which closes the laptop and then i restart and comes up with the options, start in safe mode or normal. i select normal and it allows me to login in fine. this happens 90% i turn it on

it because it didn't save the settings so do a disk clean-up & a defrag also do a error check
