Ddr2 vs ddr3

Yes, it will work just fine on Win 7.

DDR3 is actually more recommended now as all the newer systems have moved to DDR3 memory over DDR2. Also, DDR2 prices continue to go up, as they are E.O.L. and are no longer being produced on a regular bases.

Off topic, but I bought a X48 DDR2 board the other day to save cash on RAM(alredy had 8gb) , wondering if it was a bad idea....
