Good computer, running games terribly

First of all here of the specs.

AMD Phenom 9950-quadcore
Windows 7 64-bit
8GB Of Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX

I can hardly run basic games like WoW, and if i do they have to be on low settings, i cannot play any games well. They always chop up, you know what games usually do on bad systems. I cant understand why, i can provide any more info if needed.
