Ok, so I'm looking to overclock my AMD 940, which is currently clocked at 3.0 Ghz. I have a Jetway HA06 Motherboard (Chipset: AMD SB700). My temps are currently 40 C at idle and about 55 C at load and I have an aftermarket cooler, a Hyper 212 Cooler.

What's the best way to go about overclocking? I'm told you have to tweak voltage but I'm also super hesitant to do that because I don't really wanna muck up my computer or anything of the sort. Thoughts?

Your temps seem to high for stock clocks, 55C load is typically as high as those chips can safely go. I'd suggest reapplying thermal paste before you do any overclocking.

I'd suggest using the line method shown here:
