More about : ordered ssd input kelthic a b G Storage March 20, 2012 11:43:22 PM If your SSD does not come with it, you will prob need a bracket that converts a normal 3.5" Drive to a 2.5" drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... is one designed to work with the SSD you purchased. samuelspark March 20, 2012 11:43:39 PM Same thing as installing a HDD. The SATA port that you will connect the SSD to should be in AHCI mode for maximum performance. drwho1 March 21, 2012 12:29:30 AM I think it includes a 3.5 adapter, so it should fit into a hard drive bay. AHCI... setup in the Bios? I heard that some SSD's need some kind of upgrade, I'm trying to find out before I get it. This will be replacing his boot drive. I also heard that is best to do a clean install rather than just transfer the OS and main programs, is this true? I'm right now backing some of his "most important" files, documents etc... I also need to wipe that hard drive clean. kelthic a b G Storage March 21, 2012 12:37:15 AM Correct AHCI is set up in the bios. Do a clean install. you may need to do a firmware update on the SSD itself to ensure maximum performance. drwho1 March 21, 2012 1:00:45 AM kelthic said:Correct AHCI is set up in the bios. Best solution kelthic a b G Storage March 21, 2012 1:09:46 AM Find the exact drive on: http://www.mushkin.com/Digital-Storage/SSDs.aspx. The ssds that have available updates have a section labeled firmware updates, such as the one on: http://www.mushkin.com/Digital-Storage/SSDs/MKNSSDCR120.... There is a green link. It looks like the Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe 120GB does have an updated but the Mushkin Enhanced Chronos does not (no deluxe in name). drwho1 March 21, 2012 2:00:11 AM Best answer selected by drwho1. drwho1 March 21, 2012 2:00:24 AM thanks! kelthic a b G Storage March 21, 2012 2:02:02 AM anytime Can't find your answer ?
