How to use HD 5850 with RivaTuner?

I found online that you have to add the device ID to the config file but I dont know where to find the device ID at. Any help could be much appreciated. I am just looking to monitor GPU temps in game with an OSD.

why not use GPU-Z and log the temps to a file.

id rather see them in-game along with my FPS (use x-fire for that). I used to use EVGA Precision when i had a 9800 GT.

From what I could find, the current version of riva tuner(2.24c) dose not yet support the 5000 series, 2.25 should from what Ive read. Found a workaround last week that seems to work but Ive lost the link.

I just been using HWMonitor for now and checking highest temp. Its so far only hit a max of 78c with the fan only ever reaching 40% speed (auto).

device ID is found in device manager in control panel, navigate to display adapter, then properties, then detail tab, and choose Compatible Ids for property

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68B8 <--- this line here

DEV_68B8 <--- and add this to your riva tunner.cfg file (not this in the message, the one in your computer) in [VEN_10DE]

next you need to identify your graphic card
(this is the config for ATI 5770)

DEV_68B8 = "ATI Radeon HD 5770" in [VEN_1002]

then you should be able to view the information for your GPU in GPU Meter gadget
