Hey i have a ASUS M2 Crosshair AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI, and i know it is pcie x16 and not 2.0. I was wanting to get a new graphics card for the moment untill i could get a new mobo with pcie 2.o, just wanted to know if i put a pcie 2.0 graphics card in this mobo for now will it work, is it compatible?

In theory it should work - PCIe 2.0 is backwards compatible with the older PCIe. Just like o1die said - double check on the psu requirements and the power connectors required. Some card require 1 x 6-pin while other require 2 x 6 pin (or 8-pin)
