Difference between Intel Core 2 Duo and Pentium Dual Core is this:

1. Pentium Dual Core processors. They have 2 cores in one package, but they are using 1 cache memory for the 2 cores.

2. Core 2 Duo. They have 2 cores in one package, but each core has 1 cache memory. And it’s more faster…

The difference is the amount of L2 cache which affects performance. Current Pentium Dual Cores have 2mb L2 cache shared between each core, and current Core2Duo processors have either 3mb L2 cache or 6mb L2 cache depending on model.
