Hello,

I have 2 15k SAS drives I'd like to put into a new PC but instead of spending the $ on a board i wanted to use SAS to SATA cables. How much of a performance hit would I take with this vs just using a 7200 rpm SATA drive? I have two and wanted to do a simple RAID with it.

SAS and SATA are the exact same cable/interface but use different signaling and voltage. Your SAS drives will not work on a SATA controller. SAS is backwards compatible with SATA, SATA is not forwards compatible to SAS.
