Hello everyone. My friend has an XPS One PC and he wants to upgrade his RAM. He only has 2 RAM slots so I found a set of RAM for him that matches just about everything.

His RAM is 2 x 1 GB DDR2 running @ 333 MHz, the timing is 5-5-5-15

The voltage is 1.8V and it's PC2-5300

I found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226088

Will this work on his comp? It's 2 sticks, same timing, same voltage, same CAS Latency, same everything.

Thanks for your time

OK, I understand what your doing now. Then you should be just fine, but as I had said you'll only see about 3.2gb give or take. I have 4gb in Win XP and my system sees 3.12gb in the system properties.

I think you made a typo about the PC2 - 5200, you mean 5300 right?

One thing you need to consider is he running Windows XP / Windows Vista or Win7, 32-bit or 64-bit? With what you have listed he already has 2gb of RAM and with the new set you listed it would be a total of 6gb. This is ok if he has a 64-bit OS but in a 32-bit OS only about 3.2gb will be usable.

But, yes if you match everything up to the same specifications as the other RAM modules he has then it should be just fine. It is best case senario to get the same exact model/brand but that sometimes is not possible as I know, I have 2x2gb PNY and 2x2gb of a off brand not made anymore.

I'll clarify the situation for ya

He's gonna replace the 2 x 1GB sticks with the 2 x 2GB sticks hopefully, so we won't have 6 GB total, we'll have 4 GB

Indeed it is a 32-bit system
