Hi,

First off here is my system:

i5 3570k @ stock 3.4Ghz
HD 7850 XFX 2GB (single fan) http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-xfx-radeon-hd-7850-core-edition-4800mhz-gddr5-28nm-gpu-860mhz-1024-cores-dvi-hdmi-mdp
asrock extreme4 mobo
600w OCZ PSU
8gb corsair vengance @ 1600Mhz

I managed to OC my hd 7850 yesterday up to 960 Mhz and its memory to 1250 mhz keeping it stable. Its temps are around 73C on full load with the fan at around 70-75%.

I am on a tight budget of around £40 ($65). My PC is mainly for gaming. I play skyrim and Far cry 3 on ultra and these are the games where I want more FPS on.

Here are my options:

1. buy an aftermarket cooler for my GPU and OC it more to get more performance.
The cooler I had in mind was the:
Cooling Accelero TwinTurbo Pro II

or

2. buy an aftermarket cooler for my CPU and start overclocking it.
The cooler I had in mind was the:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

What will give the best performance increase? What is the best cooler to go for?

Thanks in advance :)

Yeh, but that gain would make skyrim much more playable on ultra

o.k. just checking you realized that i know my friend thought by overclocking his cpu and gpu he was going to get 25 to 50 more fps :pt1cable:  poor guy. what are you getting with 7850 you should get around 30 -40 fps
on ultra

Haha I wish I could get an extra 25-50 fps

Yeh, with my recent gpu OC I am geting around 40 fps on far cry and I would say 30-35ish on skyrim (havent measured it). I am running alot of graphics mods on skyrim so my performance isnt the best, thats why i would like just that extra bit of performance.

I would do that but I just bought the 7850 last week :ouch:

you should be able to play skyrim on ultra with 60fps with that setup. if anything OC the GPU more, but you wont get much more out of it than you already have. the 3570k will not be a bottleneck there. Best just to turn down AA or something to get the fps up.

Thanks for the reply, yeh ive turned down AA a tad for a small boost, I think the reason my FPS s low is because I am running a lot of mods and a ENB. I was wanting to OC to try and preserve the visual quality and get slightly higher fps
