More about finalized build suggestions
  1. Get the I7-930 it has 2.8Ghz and +1 to its multiplier vs the 920 and it is only $6 more expensive

other than that you are good

unless you are willing to get a midsized case instead, cause i know of one that is selling extremely cheap right now, and it is REALLY good.

Antec 900 $79 with the Promo code
  2. You can get that case and PSU in a combo, saves 25$.

    2. That thermal cmompound isn't very good. MadAdmiral or someone else would know whats better.

    3. Better cooler.
  3. Just pick up the 920 at your local Microcenter. It's not worth paying $100 more at Newegg for the 920 OR the 930.

Your thermal compound is fine. You could do better, you could do worse. It's not something I would worry about, but follow requiem's link if you want to learn more.
  4. AS5 hasn't been the best for along, long time.
  5. :P i couldnt find an updated list. though to be honest i didnt look too long.
  6. Whatever. This game up in a diffrent thread, and somebody recomended this compound that was susposidaly a cross bewteen Juesus and Superman.
  7. Thank you all for the link to compounds.....time to go and do my research on them.

I am gonna get the 920 from Microcenter for the 100 less.....hard to beat that.
  8. Ok a few changes

I am going with the 930 vs the 920. It is 50.00 dollars more at microcenter but I can swing that. 249 is a good price for it.

I am thinking about going with the Coolmaster HAC 922 case. Looks like it will be big enough. Need to pick out a PSU. Any suggestions?

The Spinpoint drives are out of stock and they do not sell them local so I need another suggestion for a HD if someone has one.

Still looking over the thermal paste stuff while I get everything else ordered.
  9. Good case. Good HSF.
  10. microcenter i 7s are alot cheaper

    Does he live near one?
  12. Yes I do live near a microcenter. It is across town but within driving distance....just a planned outing :)

At microcenter the 920's are 199 and the 930's are 249 so I figured the 50 dollars more was reasonable to goto a 930.

That power supply looks like just what I was looking for. Any suggestions on the HD's? SInce the Spinpoints are out of stock should I look at the 6.0gb/s drives out there? Or maybe the seagate 7200.12's?
  13. Unless you buy from somebody who is not newegg then you will not be able to get the spinpoint, if you want the spinpoint f3: Score 153; i would do a google shopping search for spinpoint f3 otherwise i would get the Hitachi Deskstar. Score:133
There are better scores, but you won't find a better drive for the price besides the spinpoint f3

i would recommend the WD CB but the 1TB version doesn't score as high as the 2TBversion Score:141 (1TBversion score:106)
