Is a Cooler master Hyper 212+ enough?

Hello, so im new to overclocking and i plan on doing so in a few days. My system is a i5 3570k, MSI gd-65 mobo 8gb patriot viper 3 1600mhz ram and well as said in the title a cooler master hyper 212+. After some research i've heard ivy bridge runs hot and i was wondering if my cooler master hyper 212+ will do the job at idle its at 25 degrees Celsius and well my question is will it be able to handle a overclock of 4.5ghz

More about cooler master hyper enough
  1. will it be able to handle a overclock of 4.5ghz < no.it's a decent cooler but not for an overclock that high
  2. alright thanks, i guess i will have to look for a corsiar h60 or wait for the nzxt kraken x40

Actually, it can. I have the same cpu and motherboard and currently running at 4.5GHz, probably as long as the cpu voltage is lower than 1.2V though. I applied 1.18V and max temps go as high as 78 degrees after 12 hours of prime95 (blend). Anymore voltage, I don't think it's 24/7 safe
  4. get the 212 evo! the plus has many gaps...

If you have a case to fit it this will cool it.
  6. I don't think there's any need to get an $80 cooler (not that I have anything against the D14 because I know it's great), many sub $50 will be fine for 4.5GHz. Something like the Scythe Mugen 2 is great as well

the memory clearance is pretty important as well! bigger HSF give me more trouble with the ram then the case :(

also i have an evo, and i replaced the fan that came with it, with 2 fans that are 2100 rpms...
  8. my case will fit the dh 4 ( nzxt phantom 410)but i don't think the memory will have enough clearance because I have these)

anyways ill try doing what EzioAs said and maybe make the 212+ into push pull config then see if the temps are stable if not i may have to look else where. Thanks for feedback guys greatly appreciated
  9. you are correct the ram is too high,if you do a push pull with the 212 that will help also
