Win 7 reports failing disk... Seatools says OTHER disk is failing?

Hi guys, got a little problem with potential hard disk failure. Windows 7 keeps popping up a message telling me that there are errors on one of my hard drives. Clicking the 'more' button tells me it's my main drive.

However, I just ran a few tests on Seagate Seatools. THAT is telling me that my main drive is fine, but the second disk (which is only used for backup) fails the SMART and short drive self test.

Any ideas what's going on? Could either Windows or Seatools be identifying one of the disks wrongly?

I would disconnect the cable to the drive that is failing the SMART test. Then boot windows and see if it still complains.

A drive that fails the SMART test is definitely a bad drive.

Basically the drive itself is saying "I'm gonna die soon you should backup your files and replace me as soon as possible."

I'd try running a full repair on both drives before doing the tests again. It could be that there are errors on your main drive but it's not necessarily dead yet, the one which failed SMART however is most likely buggered.
