Hi everybody,

It has been a while since I have been on or posted on this website. I came here because any time I have posted I have gotten very helpful responses. Anyways, this website BeastXPC has the Q9550 for 224.99 which is a really good price, the only thing is the website looks pretty crappy and I have no idea if this is legit or not. Here is the URL. http://beastxpc.ath.cx/index_q9550.htm

If anyone knows anything about whether or not this website is legit, please let me know because that is a great price! Thanks in advance for your help.

Where do you live?

$225 for a Q9550 is a mediocre price. If you're building a new rig from scratch, you can get a $180-$200 i5 750 or PhenomII x4 965 which will perform better.

If you live next to a microcenter, the Q9550 is $180, i5s are $180, and PIIx4s are around $160.

If you live in the US or Canada, Newegg has the Q9550 for ~$220 USD

Newegg has the q9550 at $280 USD. Prices keep goin up thanks to the new lineups. :/

$230 is a pretty good price and is what I got mine for (from newegg) around a year ago.

Do you already own a intel 775 socket motherboard? Like bluescreen said Phenom II/i5 may be a better choice if you're building a whole new system.

Yes, I already have a 775 mobo with an e8400 @ 4.0 ghz. I was jus trying to upgrade the processor to a q9550 so I could have a quad core because all these games coming out nowadays recommend quad cores. If I was building a new comp I would definitely go i7 because they are about the same price, but I am not ready to replace my mobo and RAM as well.

Just like Raidur said at newegg it is $280, but it is probably because it has an E0 stepping on it while the other one has C0 huh? I heard the E0 stepping is way better for overclocking.

Anyways, thanks for the help, probably just going to save up to buy it off newegg because I know that is a legit website and I will probably get the E0 stepping. Thanks again for the help, you guys are always so helpful on this forum.
