So this is my first build... I think all of the parts I picked out would equate to a solid build. Please let me know what you guys would change and why! I have included the ESTIMATED price I can get most of the stuff for and I would like to stay within the range if you guys think I should change up something.

Mother board seems good with USB 3.0 but not sure if its the best one for that price.

VideoCard =Radeon HD5850 Black Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 2.0 x16 Graphics Card $303

Ram =OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) $149

Case= HAF 922 $89

MotherBoard = GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 X58 ATX Motherboard $199

processor (planning to clock to 3.5) = Core i7 920 Processor Boxed $199

PSU =Antec TPQ-850 850W Continuous Power ATX12V / EPS12V $126

Hard Drive = (Any idea how much faster the 6.0gb/s will feel if any difference at all) Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive $109

Win 7 = $65

-HeatSink = V8 Universal CPU Cooler or Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.B CPU Cooler ( please tell me which one I should get) both at $55.99 (but would need a fan for the PM)

DVD DRIVE - LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 24X DVD Writer LightScribe Support $33

monitor 2343BWX-1 23" Widescreen LCD $200

Thanks in advance!!!

Make sure that RAM is compatible with the motherboard.

Unless the HAF 922 comes with fan filters now, I would look for something else.

You should see no difference with SATA 3 unless using SSD.

If the cost is the same it is a no-brainer, the Prolimatech Megahalems is the superior cooler, especially when going for high overclocks, but if you do not have any intentions of going higher than 3.8 go with a Cooler Master 212 Plus.

If you want to shave a bit off the budget go with a CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX or CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX, both are more than capable of running Radeon 5870 in crossfire.
bump mother board to the x58 ud 3 with usb 3 and sata 3,the 6gb/s version only features 500gb platters the samsung f3 1tb is cheaper and will perform just as good and you might wanna bump up to the new i7 930

and rather get the cooler master hyper 212+ it performs just as well but is much cheaper then the v8

Alright, thanks for the input. Whats the main reason for bumping up to a 930 vs. 920? Also the mobo you mentioned, is what I have in my build( I could be wrong :) )... I would like to stick to my PSU because its modular.

The 930 was just released, and has been reported to overcock a bit higher/more stably than the 920. If the price difference at Microcenter is only $10-$20, go with the 930. Otherwise, stick with the 920, as it's not worth paying $50-$75 more for the small jump in performance.

Ahh the 930 is $250 at MC. So I guess its not worth it to get it vs. the 920. Plus I am only looking to get to a stable 3.5ish clock.
