ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: First time build, however I have an experienced friend to help. I dont care particularly about brand, I just would like something to be semi future proof for a few years.

Pending build:

CPU/Mobo combo from newegg:AMD PHENOM II X4 955 3.2 and GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3

GPU/PSU combo from newegg: XFX HD-585A-ZNDC Radeon HD 5850 and OCZ StealthXStream OCZ 700W

RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB 240 Pin DDR3

CD/DVD: Liteon cd dvd burner

Case:NZXT beta evo classic series

I am also debating switching the nzxt case for the coolermaster 922 hef just because it has better reviews.

I also needed to know whether I should get the OEM system builders version of Windows 7 or the home retail edition.

  1. ^ You have selected good components for your build...
But just a heads up...You wont be able to crossfire on that mobo as it has only a 1 PCIe X16 slot...

As for the case, IMO this would be very good...
NZXT M59 - Though even I like the HAF 922 but this case is very good for that price and has spacious interiors too and is painted all black inside...

OS - Save money and get the system builder's version...

    HDD - Samsung F3 500GB/ 1TB or Seagate 7200.12 500GB drives...
