Recover files from an external hard drive.

Hello,
I have a WD10EADS External HD and it wont load at all. The little light on the HD comes on as it should, windows makes a little beep when I plug the cable in and I get nothing. What do I do?

Can you see the drive in device or disk manager? Have you tried connecting it to another computer.

I don't see it in device manager or disk manager. I don't have another computer to plug it into and you can hear a noise like a CD spinning when you first plug it in if that helps.

What OS are you using? I only ask because, when running XP if I plugged any USB device into a different USB port, I would have to reinitialize that port before the device would be recognized.

Windows 7 and I've tried every port, left it for a while but still nothing.

plugged it into another computer and still nothing.
