What would you change, and why? (i5 build)

I am thinking of putting these coponents together:

Intel Core i5 750
2x2gb ddr3-1600

I dont want to run CF just yet, but sometime in the future. Is there anything here where you think "why not this part instead"? I dont care for USB3 or SATA3, but i could be nice. But only if it's usable without crippeling CrossFire.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

  1. Those are all good components, there is no reason to pick anything else. You'll want to try and get CAS 7 RAM if possible.

To get the best advice please post in the format laid out in the "How to ask for new build advice" sticky at the top of the forum.
  2. Trade the board for an Asus P7P55D-E Pro. This one doesn't disable USB 3/SATA III speeds when you Crossfire.

What RAM is that? I'm hoping its: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7 $115

To be honest, I would go with a AM3 build (either the X4 955 or X4 620 and a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H or GA-790XTA-UD4 board) and pick up an HD 5870 instead...
  3. I had a look at the sticky, but using that as a template would just overcomplicate things. We are talking 4 components and final thoughts.

Yes, the ram will be cas 7. Forgot to mention that.

I have neven been verry happy with my AMD builds, and used intel since core2.

The reason i went for 5850 instead of 70 was the minimal performancegain vs the +50% pricetag. (here in denmark *** costs money) And i can always clock GPU an RAM to the same speed the 70 got.

But i will definitely have a look at that asus board. Thanks for the tip
  4. If need Usb3/sata6 go the Asus route, or as I did got the P55-UD4p (I'll pick up a pci card when I can use/need Sata6 (only think that would benifit is Raid0 SSDs). They have just started coming out with USB3 thumb drives. PS Love my P55-UD4P.

On ram, I selected the Rpjaw Cl7 @ 1.60 Volts (love it, but its about 20->30 Bucks more than same @ 1.65 V).

Don't forget PSU, Which one are you condemplating, a GOOD one I hope. There have been several post from people who have neglected this Important Hardware.

System P55-UD4p, 4gig Ripjaw CL7 @ 1.6 V, I5-750 OCed to 3.6 (Stable @ 3.8), 2 HDDs, On Intel G2 80 gig SSD, ATI 5770 Gpu. 1 Blu-ray writer, one DVD writer. ( not in my config yet as I'm still playing with it and have not loaded all software)
