Ordered parts for my first build:

Intel i5 750
Asus p7p55d-e pro
Radeon HD 5850
g.skill f3 8 gigs ram
ocz 700 watt psu
Samsung CD/DVD
WD 500 gig hd
antec 900

My question is that before I went to college (3 years ago) I got a monitor for a gift. I dug up the specs:

Monitor Type: LCD Monitor
Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Pitch: 0.294 mm
Response Time: 4 ms
Contrast Ratio: 1400:1
Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
System Type: PC
Display Technology: TFT active matrix
Color Support: Up to 16.2 million colors
General Product Information
Interface Provided: 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15), 24 pin digital DVI

Am I going to need to buy a new monitor for this new rig?

You don't need a new monitor, but your graphics card is overkill for the resolution that your old monitor runs at. A new monitor would be recommended if you want to actually use the power of the new card.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what specs I should look for as well as what is a good price point
